Bairds Malt Extends Crop SRM Rollout

Over 800 UK Barley growers will soon receive an invitation with online access to CROP SRM’s supplier relationship management system as Bairds Malt looks to extend its use of the system to support their suppliers throughout the year. CROP SRM was born out of farming and agri business experience and provides a platform that significantly increases efficiency for all involved in the Bairds supply chain. This is an enhanced service for growers that will allow them to make real time market decisions which is especially important at harvest time when it’s vital to maximise weather windows and time on the combine. CROP SRM’s ‘always on’, platform enables growers to securely access and review their Bairds contracts, manage pricing positions and respond to open offers in real time, check their load collection schedules and see all harvest and supply load sample results. It also delivers real time communicating by transport planners with hauliers to transport crops from farm to the maltings. CROP SRM was born out of farming and agri business experience and provides a platform that significantly increases efficiency for all involved in the Bairds supply chain. This is an enhanced service for growers that will allow them to make real time market decisions which is especially important at harvest time when it’s vital to maximise weather windows and time on the combine.

Dan O’Donoghue is the lead behind CROP SRM’s platform, and is excited to see Bairds roll out the system to their growers throughout the UK. Alan Williamson has been leading the relationship between CROP SRM and Bairds as Bairds Commercial Director, and is also looking forward to delivering enhanced benefits to growers using the platform. Bairds have also begun expanding the use of CROP SRM to support malt customers and their contracts.

“As we enter our fourth season working with CROP SRM, the jewels in the crown are the real time reports that are embedded on the platform,” said Alan. “CROP SRM listened to our requirements and delivered a best in class reporting suite that’s live and up to the minute, every minute. We’ll shortly see our UK growers accessing the platform via their login, and I believe this will transform their service experience with – 24hour real time access on 365 days of the year. We already see all parts of the supply chain benefitting from the insights available from the reports, and real time information including staff within our maltings, and our malt customers during the growing season and at harvest.”

Utilising the CROP SRM’s system also further supports Bairds current traceability practices as it offers benefits to the end consumer who increasingly want more information about what they are purchasing, and where it originated.

Invitations and onboarding video tutorials will be sent out to Bairds growers later this week, with the Farm Traders at Scotgrain and Mark Lawrence Grain leading the roll out as the merchanting partners of Bairds Malt in the UK.

Owen Southwood is Scotgrain Agriculture’s General Manager, and is excited about the benefits that CROP SRM has brought to those growing barley for Bairds in the UK in recent years and the value that grower using it for online pricing will bring now. “CROP SRM is a really great tool that’s easy to use, does a fantastic job, and works very well. With CROP SRM, we have significantly improved the speed and accuracy of information flow between growers, farm traders, transport planners, administrators, hauliers, weighbridge operators, laboratory staff and management.”
