Harvest 2023 Opportunities
We have a number of varied and interesting opportunities available during our harvest period at our malting sites throughout Scotland. Each harvest we intake lorry loads of raw material barley, which is then sampled, dried and stored to ensure we have quality raw material to produce malt at our four UK maltings.
Harvest runs from Aug to end Sep/ early Oct with some positions starting in July.

Bairds is looking for team members to come and be part of a crucial period in our annual process to ensure we continue to produce premium quality malt to supply some of the biggest and best known whisky and beer brands throughout the UK and overseas. Each harvest role is vital to support a successful intake process and your involvement will contribute to the continued success of our business and the wider supply chain that we work alongside.

Bairds Malt Harvest Opportunities
Bairds Malt currently have the following opportunities to come and work with us during the 2023 Harvest Season.
Harvest Intake Assistants
Testing barley samples for malting viability and recording results to ensure smooth operation of product to site and weighbridge.
Utility, Dryer and Cleaning Operators
To operate the driers on site to ensure wet barley is dried and stored correctly and to provide general support to site operations and to carry out routine cleaning to ensure areas are maintained.
Weighbridge Operators
To operate the weighbridge, processing barley to site and despatching malt.
BARLEY ASSESSOR
Assessing barley samples for malting suitability and coordination of associated paperwork.
Grain RUnners
Collecting barley samples from farm locations and distributing to sites for testing.
Administration Assistant
Assist with varied administration tasks to ensure smoothly operations during busy harvest period.

Where We Work
Bairds Malt operate 4 maltings in the UK, in addition to a dedicate grain store in Turriff. Additionally, we have a variety of members of staff based from our central Edinburgh office.
Our 2023 Harvest roles are based at 3 of our malting locations, and our Turriff Grain Store.

Isla is based at our Inverness Maltings. where she has just undertaken a role as Project Co-ordinator to help deliver our new state of the art malting plant.
Isla first joined Bairds as a weighbridge operator during harvest, and has stayed with Bairds ever since.
